A girl is sitting in the window of what is presumably her room, staring at nothing. Maybe she’s thinking? She is still in her pajamas. She seems like the type to not particularly care about anything. Except maybe her name, though that is still a mystery.

> Enter name.

Useless Stoneface

==>

She continues to stare out of the window, though there is no possible way she did not register this name. Perhaps she considers it too idiotic to respond to. In any case, it is clearly not her name.

> Try again.

Anie Swisher

==>

Your name is Anie Swisher, but you are usually referred to as Anie. It would be foolish to use someone’s whole name in conversation.

> Examine room.

You continue to look out the window, but you know exactly what is important in your room and that is your BOOKS. You also appreciate your WINDOW, because it has a nice seat in it so you can watch out the window, though this is not one of your preferred pastimes. You have many other things in your room, but they are all based on your uncle’s sense of style, and you don’t care for them very much.

> Greet Unc.

Your uncle has come into your room and would like to help you look nice for the day. He seems to find great joy in helping you choose an outfit for the day, and also in doing your hair. You allow him to do these things even though you do not particularly care for them. You do not let him or anyone else watch you while you dress however.

An otaku girl sits on her bed. Today she is watching anime, as most otaku girls do. She has been watching anime for the past several hours, or reading manga, or light novels, or playing Japanese games. She may have a Japanese name, but that is unlikely, seeing how she is in no way related to someone remotely Japanese. What is her name, anyway?

> Enter name.

Weeaboo Wapanese

. . .

No response to that name. While it might be that she is just too immersed in the anime, it might be that that is not her actual name. And that she is pointedly ignoring this insult. Yes, the latter is most likely.

> Try again.

Lily Olivers

==>

Your name is Lily Olivers. Or just L. Olivers. Or just L.Oli, if you're into that kind of thing.

> Examine room.

You are in your room, sitting on your bed as always, surrounded by PLUSHES OF ANIME MASCOTS and even a couple of DAIMAKURA. This is representative of your general INTERESTS. Copies of your favorite ANIME, MANGA, JAPANESE VIDEOGAMES, SONGS, AND LIGHT NOVELS populate your shelves. Posters, figurines, and other OTAKU MERCH also populate your shelves. Various self-made articles for COSPLAY are scattered throughout the room. You have just finished watching a "sugoku kawaii" anime on your laptop wherein the familiar trope of "sempai notice me" has been turned on its head, and, as ever, you are eager to consume more of the Japanese media you love so much. You remember that a number of your chums enjoy reading and watching various forms of fiction media. They might have some recommendations.

> Lily: Pester your chums.

Success! You swiftly open up Abraxas and go to a dubious website that is filled with click-bait ads in addition to several anime hosted with a questionable amount of legality. Disregarding all this, you start watching anime.

==>

Or you try to, at least. Out of nowhere, your cat (whom you named Nya~chan because you thought it was "kawaii" at the time) leaps onto your laptop, blocking your view of the screen.

> Lily: Get rid of Nya~chan!

You try to remove it from the computer but it easily slips out of your grasp and returns to its spot on the keyboard.

> Lily: Stow away the laptop.

Fed up, you store the noteBOOK PC in your bookkind strife specibus. You know it's a stretch, but you don't care as the problem of Nya~chan being on your computer is solved.

==>

You realize that you cannot watch anime while your laptop is in your strife specibus.

> STRIFE!

You aggrieve the cat. She simply sits on the laptop again once it is out of the strife specibus. The circle of frustration is complete.

> ABSCOND!

You run out of the room, laptop in hand, and into the bathroom, closing the all the doors behind you as you go. You surprise yourself with your speed. Not even a cat could keep up.

==>

Alone at last. Nya~chan should still be in your rooOH WHAT WHY IS SHE HERE IN THE BATHROOM HOW EVEN JUST GO AWAY.

> ACCEDE!

Tearfully, you go back to your room, put the laptop on the bed, and let Nya~chan sleep on it. You curl up with a daimakura of Kagamine Rin and Len and sulk. Soon you doze off, dreaming of sempai.

You are now FS.
You’re in your room avoiding your uncle, still staring out the window and thinking, when Pesterchum alerts you to a new message. You get on and see that VI wants something. Nobody ever pesters you unless they want something. Actually, nobody ever pesters anyone unless they want something. Ah well, you’ll see what it is she has to say.

Well that was a waste of time. You don’t really understand VI, but then again, you don’t really understand any of your online friends.  You leave your computer and go look through some of your neurology textbooks, still trying to uncover the secrets of the human mind. This is fruitless, as usual, and you find nothing to help you understand how someone could be so obsessed with something. Perhaps reading something else would be wise. You carefully fish the library book you got today out of your specibus using your amazing math skills, sit down on your bed, and read.

> Be the Other Girl

Post by waveringPanda on Wed Dec 09, 2015 8:51 pm

A girl sits on her bed, reading a book. It looks a mystery-detective novels, the kind she really likes with the mafia gangs and such. And yes, she knows, she's a nerd.

What could be her name?

> Enter Name

Herpaderp Attentionkid

> Be Hella Wrong

OH

HELL

NO

> Try Again

Your name is MHAE NAINNO. You are SIXTEEN YEARS OLD. You try to be CHEERFUL PERSON because you REALLY LIKE PEOPLE. On your bedroom walls are several POSTERS of things from several ACTION MOVIES and PRETTY NEAT FANDOMS. You are a lover of ACTION/ADVENTURE in any form, and love fast-paced movies and comics. Despite being very friendly and cheerful, you fail to express your EXTROVERTED TENDENCIES because you are also pretty SHY. You hope to get over it soon though. You just want to be a bit more confident, that's all.

Hey look, you computer's buzzing inside your STRESS SYLLADEX

> Take out Computer

Your Stress Sylladex is simple. Essentially, the more stressed or panicked you are, the less likely you are to get things in or out. It can be a bit troublesome in a pinch, but you like it anyway. It reinforces happy and calm behavior.

The world may never know.

[06:58] FS: Certain things can transcend space-time.
[06:58] WP: ...okay
[06:58] WP: I don't quite understand space time, so I'll just trust what you say
[06:58] WP: Smile
[06:59] FS: Indeed. Nobody understands space-time completely, so such things are probably possible.
[07:00] FS: Not that it really matters. We can verify this guide when we enter the game ourselves.
[07:00] WP: Despite what I just said, "probably possible" isn't quite reassuring
[07:01] FS: Life does not exist to reassure.
[07:01] WP: I guess that's also true
[07:10] WP: Speaking of reassuring, how are you doing?
[07:10] FS: The same as usual.
[07:11] FS: Is this supposed to reassure me somehow?
[07:11] FS: I do not understand the correlation.
[07:11] WP: I mean, are you ok? I know your uncle's a tad overbearing
[07:11] WP: It's reassuring to me to know my friends are ok
[07:12] FS: I do not particularly care what my uncles does. I am fine.
[07:12] WP: If you say so
[07:12] WP: Smile
[07:13] FS: I presume you are doing well also?
[07:13] WP: Yup!
[07:13] WP: I'd say "lovely as always" but
[07:14] WP: I'm staring worry now about what yousaid
[07:14] WP: I'm staring worry now about what you said
[07:14] FS: Ah. About the world ending? Well, it's difficult to say just how enede the world will be.
[07:15] FS: My apologies, ended.
[07:15] WP: Ended?
[07:15] WP: Please explain
[07:16] FS: Well even after being hit by meteors, the planet will stil exist.
[07:17] WP: ...That doesn't change the fact that people wil die
[07:17] FS: Humanity is fairly tenacious. There is no way to know if it will die out entirely.
[07:17] FS: And individual lives are fairly unimportant.
[07:17] FS: They are all so short anyway.
[07:17] WP: But that's still horrible!
[07:18] WP: A life is precious!
[07:18] FS: If you say so.
[07:18] FS: I do not think we can do anything about it anyway.
[07:19] WP: That doesn't mean we cannot try?
[07:19] WP: Is there a way to?
[07:19] FS: If you wish for death go ahead.
[07:19] WP: Sad
[07:20] FS: It is pointless to worry about it.
[07:20] WP: If you say so, I guess there really isn't much to do...
[07:21] FS: Indeed.
[07:21] WP: What will happen to us?
[07:21] WP: When we enter this game?
[07:21] WP: How does entering even work?
[07:21] FS: We will be placed on different planets.
[07:21] WP: As in, Mars, Saturn, Jupiter?
[07:22] WP: Last I checked, humans don't live on Mars
[07:22] FS: No. They are more personalized.
[07:22] WP: ?
[07:22] FS: And most certainly not in this universe.
[07:22] FS: It is difficult to explain.
[07:23] WP: ..Again, I will just trust your judgement for now
[07:24] FS: You will see when we enter. Until then it is not particularly important.
[07:24] WP: Do the others know?
[07:24] FS: Unless they found the guide themselves, no. They have not asked.
[07:25] FS: I myself only found it recently, after some extensive searching on the nature of this game.
[07:25] WP: I can imagine it'll be hard for some of them to take...
[07:26] FS: They can deal with it or they can choose to die. It is not my problem.
[07:26] WP: Sad
[07:26] FS: Perhaps.
[07:26] WP: Well I will definitely tell them!
[07:27] FS: That is completely unnecessary, but go ahead.
[07:27] WP: I feel that they should know
[07:28] FS: Alright.
[07:28] WP: Considering, in order for them to live, they will need to get into the game right?
[07:28] WP: It is only logical
[07:28] WP: And I know you like logic
[07:29] FS: The plan was to enter anyway. I do not think their minds were going to change.
[07:29] FS: However the idea that other will die might make them resistant to the game.
[07:29] WP: ...
[07:29] WP: I hate to admit it, but you're right.
[07:30] FS: That would be inconvenient, yes.
[07:30] WP: We should still tell them anyway
[07:30] WP: At least when they get in
[07:30] FS: You may do that.
[07:31] WP: Speaking of which, what are these prophesied meteors coming in?
[07:31] FS: They appear soon after the game arrives. Other than that it seems quite random.
[07:32] WP: Best get to it then
[07:32] FS: Of course.
[07:32] WP: Goodbye!
[07:32] FS: Goodbye.
[07:32] -- forgottenSnowflake [FS] ceased pestering waveringPanda [WP] at 19:32 --

You have got to warn the others! But who to tell first though?

And more importantly, who GOES first? Whom after that, and after that?

You are suddenly very concerned.

> Put back computer.

You attempt to put the computer back, but it shoots out and bonks you on the head. Painfully.

ARGH! STUPID FECKIN DUMB STRESS SYLLADEX GAH!

> Glare at your Sylladex

I'm watching you, asshole.

> Go back in corner to sulk

Your life is over.

=>

At least you have your hardcover, and decent WiFi connection. You decide to first calm down by reading the next chapter, then maybe going on Tumblr or something.

And then you can find a way to help your friends.

You are now FS.

You are looking over that guide to Sburb again, seeing as the game is supposed to arrive today. You appreciate the thoroughness of this writer’s account of the game. Pesterchum pops up. It looks like WP wants to talk.

[06:41] FS: Hello.
[06:42] FS: Did you need something?
[06:42] WP: Hello Anie!
[06:42] WP: Just wanted to chat!
[06:42] WP: Did you get the game already?
[06:42] FS: What game?
[06:43] WP: Sburb!
[06:43] FS: Oh. Yes that.
[06:43] FS: I have not checked my mail yet today.
[06:43] FS: So I do not know.
[06:44] WP: You should, and then we can trying going multiplayer.
[06:44] WP: Does Sburb have multiplayer?
[06:44] WP: ...
[06:44] FS: I believe so, yes.
[06:44] WP: That's wonderful
[06:44] FS: First we need to come up with an order of who will host who.
[06:44] WP: Smile
[06:45] WP: I dunno
[06:45] WP: Who would want to go first?
[06:45] FS: Well, nothing may be initiated until we have figured that out.
[06:45] WP: Yes, I suppose so
[06:46] FS: The order of who goes in first is significantly less important than who will host who.
[06:46] FS: We need to make sure it will come full circle.
[06:46] WP: Oh so that everyone gets in
[06:47] WP: How do you know so much about the game?
[06:47] FS: We cannot risk leaving someone out as I am relatively sure they will perish.
[06:47] WP: Perish?
[06:47] WP: How on earth would they?
[06:47] FS: There was a guide I found online. Apparently meteors are involved. Should be quite interesting.
[06:48] WP: I do love the occassional meteor shower, but
[06:48] WP: Wouldn't it be highly unlikely we would die via meteor?
[06:48] FS: Oh this will be less of a shower and more of a storm.
[06:49] FS: No, bigger than that really.
[06:49] WP: Bigger?
[06:49] FS: At least as far as I can tell, yes. The continuation of the world will likely cease.
[06:55] WP: ...
[06:55] WP: That's... concerning to say the least
[06:56] WP: Are you sure this guide is reliable?
[06:56] FS: It seems to be.
[06:56] WP: Wait
[06:57] FS: It could be a prank, but I doubt anyone would put that much effort into a prank.
[06:57] WP: If the world really does end
[06:57] FS: Yes?
[06:57] WP: Then how did the person writing the guide survive??

You had not thought about the fact that the others in your group might be upset about the end of the world. Hopefully they will not do anything foolish with this information.

> Check mail.

You get up and leave your room to go outside. Your uncle has already made you wear this outfit, so he’ll leave you alone for a while. Once you get to the mailbox you look inside and see that yes, your copy of Sburb has arrived.

> Take copies of Sburb.

You grab the copies and return to your room. You will install them on your SCISSORtop when you are ready to enter the game.

A boy is standing around his room, reading one of Charles Dickens' great novels.

What could his name be?

>Name

Billy Bob Joe.

That is not his name. How would even have such a stereotypical name?

>Try again

Bill Y'bobjo

Wait, how could that b-
I mean, that is obviously your name.

Your name is BILL Y'BOBJO. You are SIXTEEN YEARS OLD. Throughout your room, you have VARIOUS KNIGHTLY OBJECTS such as medieval swords, shields, and A COWBOY HAT. Oh yes, did I mention? You live in TEXAS and you love HORSEBACK RIDING, COWBOYS, and MEDIEVAL AND MODERN ENGLAND. You are the ENGLISH EQUIVALENT OF A WEEABO. Your room also has MANY HISTORY BOOKS and a TRIVIA BOOK in the corner. You put the book down after having reading about three or four chapters.

For now, you really want to talk to someone about that AWESOME book you just read part of.

>Take out laptop.

You look at your chums. Currently, WP is on.

[02:58] WP: ...To be completely honest, not so great
[02:58] FV: Why is that
[02:58] WP: You know Sburb?
[02:58] FV: I have heard of it, yes.
[02:58] WP: That game Anie's got?
[02:58] FV: Yes.
[02:59] WP: Can you promise me you won't flip out?
[02:59] FV: ...I am suspicious, but sure.
[02:59] WP: So... it turns out as fun as this game seems
[03:00] WP: It might accidentally
[03:00] WP: Maybe
[03:00] WP: Send a certain amount of meteors at us
[03:00] WP: And by a certain amount
[03:00] WP: Maybe it might be
[03:01] WP: A kinda deadly amount ;_;
[03:01] FV: ...I would quite enjoy calling that most likely bullshit of the highest degree, good chap.
[03:01] WP: No seriously!
[03:01] WP: I'm ot kidding!
[03:02] WP: *not
[03:02] WP: Anie told me this!
[03:02] FV: Where did Anie get this information from?
[03:02] WP: She found this game faq that had like a crap ton of info on this game
[03:03] WP: And according to it, the storm of meteors is pretty much apocalyptic
[03:04] FV: Game FAQs. Clearly the highest brand of honesty in the US. I would never imagine false information being spread from such a high class source.
[03:04] WP: ...
[03:04] WP: Ok maybe your right
[03:04] WP: But Anie seldom bullshits
[03:04] WP: (At least as far as I'm concerned)
[03:05] FV: I mean, I believe that Anie believes it, but I'm not sure if the source was mistaken.
[03:06] FV: Look, I'll talk to her about it later, I suppose. Maybe the article was genuine because, like you said, she does not bullshit.
[03:06] WP: =)
[03:06] FV: But I am still incredulous about it.
[03:07] WP: Sigh...
[03:07] FV: Is there anything else?
[03:07] WP: Regardless of whether you end of believing it, can you promise to still play the game?
[03:08] FV: Of course. I have been looking forward to this for a long time.
[03:08] WP: Wonderful!
[03:08] FV: I wouldn't just not play a game because of apocolyptic rumors, even if founded.
[03:08] WP: It's apparently imperative that all of us get in
[03:09] WP: The meteors can and will kill anyone who doesn't get in
[03:09] WP: Getting in means your safe
[03:09] WP: Somehow
[03:09] FV: What about everyone else?
[03:09] WP: ...
[03:10] FV: ...oh, I see.
[03:10] WP: Anyone who is not getting in dies
[03:10] FV: I gathered.
[03:11] FV: Anyway, I suppose that I should talk to Anie about this Game FAQs article.
[03:11] FV: Maybe read it myself; find out what other rumors it's spreading.
[03:11] WP: Yeah..'
[03:11] FV: Welp, I hope you have a splendid day, good chap.

Better. Much better.

You are ERIK SELVIG and you are SIXTEEN YEARS OLD. Your room is filled with VIDEO GAME posters, ANIME figures, BOOKS, PLANTS, and scattered CARD GAMES. There are no books or games pertaining to TIME TRAVEL as it is something you hate. This will likely not be important in the future.

While no one is on Pesterchum this late/early, there is an old conversation that may be worth revisiting.

[06:42] WP: Everything is

[06:43] MM: eh. what could possibly go wrong with a sand-box style game/

The many and varied advantages of text-based communication. Easy to revisit with no screaming required. You should remember to ask Anie about that game tomorrow. Or sometime later. Just not now, as she is not on.

>Return to game

For now, you return to the game that you left paused. Or not. Shit.

Post by fabulousVictorian on Mon Jan 04, 2016 9:30 pm

You are now FV.

As you continue to read your AWESOME BOOK you decide to check out the source material on GameFAQs. You log into your account, Moocow123450, and go on the page for Sburb.

As it turns out, that walkthrough is there and problematically, upon reading it, it's either a really well written fiction piece of genuine mortal terror. You aren't sure which one it is and are terrified to find out.

As you realize that it's probably more genuine, you decide it's probably in everyone's best interest for you to tell everyone. You quickly pop on to pesterchum and see that the only on right now is MM. You also realize you stayed up obnoxiously late again due to being so absorbed in your book, but that's neither here nor there.

[09:09] MM: hey
[09:10] FV: Greetings!
[09:11] FV: WP has told me something... most unsettling about the game.
[09:12] FV: Apperntly, according to a sketchy GameFAQs article of dubious legitmacy, the game will trigger an apocalypse that you can only avoid by getting into the game.
[09:12] FV: Now, I don't exactly trust the source myself, but appearntly it's quite important to get into it.
[09:12] FV: ...just double checking, you are getting the game, right? You are going to play it?
[09:13] MM: that was the fucking plan
[09:13] FV: Okay. But I thought it might be important to know about this bit of information. Anyway, it's only a rumor, so I'm not sure how trustworthy it is.
[09:14] MM: well mhae seemed pretty fucking convinced
[09:14] MM: apparently she heard from anie
[09:15] FV: Yeah, she told me that, too.
[09:15] FV: I found the original article that mentioned that and while I'm not totally convinced yet, it's either a really good author, or it's real.
[09:16] MM: though anie hasn't been fuck on, or i would have fcking ambushed her to demand source material
[09:16] MM: 8fucking
[09:17] FV: I have the source material, actually. The only source is a walkthrough for the game on GameFAQs. I'm not sure if it's by a Beta tester or just a bunch of nonsense, but you could probably find it.
[09:17] MM: eh. i'll just wait and see.
[09:17] FV: Okay.
[09:18] FV: Anyway, chap, I really don't have much else to say. I just wanted to make sure you were aware of this rumor in case it was founded.
[09:18] MM: i'm aware of the rumor.
[09:18] FV: I know that now.
[09:18] MM: has anyone informed the rest of the group/
[09:19] FV: I am not sure; I feel like WP has gotten around to telling everyone else; I just want to double check myself.
[09:20] MM: okay. double check successful.
[09:20] FV: That's good. Well, I hope you have a good day
[09:20] MM: you too1
[09:20] -- fabulousVictorian [FV] ceased pestering midnightMoon [MM] at 21:20 --

There's a good chance WP already got around to pestering everyone. You decide that it's still in your best interest to double check everybody knows. By this point, you really do need to make sure just VI knows, but she isn't on right now. You suppose that very few people are at a time like this. You should probably go to bed.

You go back to reading, waiting for her to get on.

> Be the Mopey Kid

Post by waveringPanda on Fri Jan 08, 2016 10:12 am

You are not mopey! You have actually calmed down quite a bit. A bit. Just a little bit.

OK, maybe you haven't actually calmed down that much, MAYBE you might have been flipping out in the corner for the last 30 minutes. MAYBE.

But you have definitely made progress in forming coherent thoughts without going into a mental breakdown. Which has got to mean something, right?

=>

Oh look! It's one of your chums, Billy Bob J-

Er, you mean Bill Y'bobjo. (you swear that name reminds you of something)

He's pestering you right now, and you decide you should try to tell him of the apparent looming apocalypse.

Would he flip out? Would he even believe you? You're not sure. Bill is a known skeptic, and depending on what you say, he might flat out refuse to play! You can't risk that.

You will need to tread carefully with this one.

> Tread Carefully

[02:57] FV: Hello there, mate.
[02:57] WP: Hey!
[02:57] FV: How are you today, mate?
[02:58] WP: ...To be completely honest, not so great
[02:58] FV: Why is that
[02:58] WP: You know Sburb?
[02:58] WP: That game Anie's got?
[02:58] FV: I have heard of it, yes.
[02:58] FV: Yes.
[02:59] WP: Can you promise me you won't flip out?
[02:59] FV: ...I am suspicious, but sure.
[02:59] WP: So... it turns out as fun as this game seems
[02:59] WP: It might accidentally
[03:00] WP: Maybe
[03:00] WP: Send a certain amount of meteors at us
[03:00] WP: And by a certain amount
[03:00] WP: Maybe it might be
[03:01] WP: A kinda deadly amount ;_;
[03:01] FV: ...I would quite enjoy calling that most likely bullshit of the highest degree, good chap.
[03:01] WP: No seriously!
[03:01] WP: I'm ot kidding!
[03:01] WP: *not
[03:02] WP: Anie told me this!
[03:06] WP: Sigh...
[03:09] FV: ...oh, I see.
[03:10] WP: Anyone who is not getting in dies
[03:10] FV: I gathered.
[03:11] FV: Anyway, I suppose that I should talk to Anie about this Game FAQs article.
[03:11] WP: Yeah..'
[03:11] FV: Maybe read it myself; find out what other rumors it's spreading.
[03:11] FV: Welp, I hope you have a splendid day, good chap.
[03:11] -- fabulousVictorian [FV] ceased pestering waveringPanda [WP] at 15:11 --
[03:11] WP: I really hope it's a rumor...
[03:11] -- waveringPanda [WP] ceased pestering fabulousVictorian [FV] at 15:11 --

You really hope it's just a rumor...

=>

You can't help that you're annoyed by Bill though. How could he not trust both your and Anie's word on something this important! Honestly, is it that hard to believe that there is an imminent apocalypse that will destroy all life on earth unless you deus ex machina out of there via a strange and seemingly irrelevant game?

...

Okay, now that you think that about it, Bill seems kinda reasonable. Sorry 'bout that Bill!

But you're still going to do something about the game.

=>

You spend the rest of the day looking for information on "Sburb". There's gotta be info somewhere on the internet.

But to your surprise, not much. The day passes and there is only vague mentions here and there about the game, it's not even popular! Any info you find is glorifying the sandbox-style of the game, which at this point you're not even sure has any relevance to... literally anything. You manage to find Anie's mentioned online guide, but your too tired to read or process anything.

You decide to go to bed, as it's late now. and anything you try to absorb now will definitely be forgotten in the morning.

> Sleep. Then be awakened by a Chum.

Bwa! You wake up to a notification that a chum is pestering you. Did you fall asleep at your computer?

Yes. You did. You definitely did. And congrats, you now have an imprint of a keyboard on your cheek. You genius.

> Check who's Pestering you at this hour

It's MM! You remember distinctly leaving your previous convo early in favor of talking to Anie about the game. What an adventure the was.

You hope he's not too upset by that!

[09:06] WP: So um can you promise me whatever happens you will still play the game?
[09:07] WP: 'Cause the news isn't too happy

[09:11] WP: and I only know because of Anie
[09:11] WP: Anie only knows because a mysterious guide
[09:11] WP: I think it was a game FAQ?
[09:13] MM: and why should we play/ shouldn't not playing circumvent the whole looming apocalyse/
[09:13] WP: Now that you say that...
[09:14] WP: It kinda makes sense
[09:14] WP: However
[09:14] WP: I think the apocalypse will happen regardless of what we do
[09:14] WP: Some type of paradox thing
[09:15] WP: So the only way to survive to to hop right into the game!
[09:15] MM: i fucking hate paradoxes.
[09:15] MM: do any of us actually have a copy of the game/
[09:16] WP: Anie does, I forgot who else. Let me check
[09:18] WP: I don't recall anyone else having it
[09:18] WP: But lets be honest its probably on the internet
[09:19] WP: I'll find copies
[09:20] WP: Everyone absolutely must get into the game!
[09:21] MM: so how does us playing affect the oncoming apocalypse/
[09:21] WP: I have no clue whether it'll affect the apocalypse
[09:21] WP: For all I know, it might be a fixed point in time
[09:23] MM: 8twitch8 anyway. so fail to play, we die with the wolrd. play, everyone else dies.
[09:23] MM: fantastic. what could possibly go wrong/
[09:24] WP: I know that in playing we will be placed in, as Anie said, different planets, each personalized to us specifically
[09:25] MM: to do what/
[09:25] WP: I have no clue!
[09:25] WP: Apparently that hapens and we are safe
[09:25] WP: Somehow???
[09:25] WP: Dammit Anie
[09:26] WP: My guess is we start playing the game? Try beating it? If it even can be beaten?
[09:29] MM: so we go into the game to different locations, to do some undefined thing, and potentially beat the fuck game some fucking how.
[09:29] WP: (๑◕︵◕๑)
[09:30] WP: Pretty much
[09:30] WP: But that will keep us safe
[09:30] MM: maybe. we hope.
[09:31] MM: unless there's something worse waiting in the game.
[09:31] WP: I trust Anie on this. If we work hard and get things right, we have to be able to survive
[09:32] MM: work hard and go to college and lead a successful life/
[09:33] MM: one or both of us needs to talk to anie about the deeply bitchy details.
[09:34] WP: I don't know. It seems even she's in the dark about some things...
[09:34] WP: I just want everyone to be safe
[09:34] WP: I hate the fact that everyone's dying
[09:35] MM: well. it won't hurt to ask. she probably won't know less than we do.
[09:35] WP: Yeah
[09:35] MM: and there likely isn't much to be dont for them.
[09:35] MM: unless we try to bring them into the game with us.
[09:35] WP: Maybe... When we get in, we can do some deus ex machina thing where we go back in time
[09:36] WP: And save everyone!
[09:36] WP: No one would have to die!
[09:36] MM: can you stop it withthe time travel thing/
[09:36] WP: ...
[09:36] WP: I can dream
[09:37] MM: or at least small pockets of humanity could survive on our individual planets
[09:37] WP: Someone needs to be optimistic around here

You sag in your chair. That got intense. And very anime.

=>

Though, you're happy that went rather well. And in addition, you now also have prime fanart material! You can't wait to draw it!

But more importantly comes warning everyone. You need to make sure everyone at least gets copies of the game, and make them promise to get in. You will pester Anie for information, and set up the entry order. Your friends take priority.

Oh, and you should probably read that online guide. So much to do, so little time!

At least life has gotten interesting!

[12:31] FV: Has Anne told you anything about the game at all?
[12:31] FV: I mean Anie, sorry, chap.
[12:31] VI: uh, no~nyaa? i don't remember~nyaa . . .
[12:32] FV: Well. I should probably go get a copy for you.
[12:32] FV: Basically, it's a game that if we don't play we will die.
[12:32] FV: That's the best way I can describe it.
[12:33] VI: but it's not anime themed~nyaa . . .
[12:33] FV: Chap, not everything has to be anime themed.
[12:33] VI: ~(=┬┬ ω┬┬)

[12:35] VI: so what is this about dying~nyaa?
[12:36] FV: Basically, the game will summon meteors. The only ones who will be able to survive, presumably, are those who run the game and....I'm not sure what else from there. The guide has good information, though, so I reccomend reading it.
[12:36] VI: sounds like an anime plot (=^・^=)ノ
[12:37] FV: Fine. If it gets you to join, it's anime themed. Goodness, chap.
[12:37] VI: seems fun, but i don't believe in this actual dying stuff

[12:39] FV: Well, not 'literature". It's a lot of legends.
[12:39] FV: But it's really good..
[12:39] VI: doesn't *sound* japanese

[12:42] FV: Bye. I'm going to ask WP about getting copies of the game for us.
[12:42] -- fabulousVictorian [FV] ceased pestering victoriousInnocence [VI] at 12:42 --

Now that you think about it, WP never gave you the game either. You realize that you should probably ask her about it soon.

You realize that it's getting late and you should probably get back to sleep.
But that book you have is just so good.
...
You look at the time.
It's very late.
You decide to read some more of your AMAZING BOOK.

[07:39] WP: Do you know anything beyond what the game guide mentions?
[07:39] FS: No.
[07:40] WP: =(
[07:40] FS: I've had some theories, however, and my theories are usually correct.
[07:40] FS: I suspect that there is, in fact, a goal to this game.
[07:40] WP: That's good=)
[07:41] WP: Do you have any idea what this goal is?
[07:41] WP: Is it just a beat-em-up?
[07:42] WP: Kill bad guys and win?
[07:42] WP: Or is it more like a puzzle game?
[07:42] FS: That depends. I think we may be creating something. Something bigger.
[07:42] WP: Bigger?
[07:43] FS: I am not sure what, but the game is far too complicated to be something so simple.
[07:43] FS: Or rather, to end in something so simple.
[07:43] WP: Huh.
[07:43] WP: Well that's one question answered.
[07:43] FS: The world ends. This would indicate the game has some importance.
[07:43] WP: Yeah...
[07:44] WP: I would love to figure out if there are any alternatives...
[07:44] WP: But like I just said
[07:44] FS: I am sure there are none.
[07:44] WP: I'm not sure we have much time anyway
[07:44] FS: We do not.
[07:45] WP: That's really unfortunate =(
[07:45] WP: Okay question #2!
[07:46] FS: Yes.
[07:46] WP: What's going to happen to us if we lose?
[07:47] WP: How do we even lose?
[07:47] WP: Do you have any idea?
[07:47] FS: I think we will die.
[07:47] FS: To lose, we do not enter the game soon enough.
[07:47] WP: WHAT?
[07:47] WP: Would we die in game?!
[07:47] FS: That leaves us in the path of a meteor. Ergo, death.
[07:47] FS: A bit more permanently.
[07:48] FS: Though there is magic, so permanent is relative.
[07:48] WP: I understand that no game = death, but in-game, can we die?
[07:48] WP: Like actually die
[07:48] FS: I would assume so. We will be there physically, after all.
[07:49] WP: Damn!
[07:49] FS: If you fall to far, or get crushed, or some enemy takes you out, well, thats pretty permanent.
[07:49] WP: So we could go through all that trouble, all that work to get in
[07:49] WP: And have it all for nothing??
[07:50] FS: Well, we will have lived at least a little while longer.
[07:50] WP: Oh my god D=
[07:50] FS: If everyone gets in, and only one dies, well thats not a bad rate of success.
[07:50] WP: Yeah, but!
[07:51] FS: Would it be preferable for everyone to survive, yes,
[07:51] FS: However there is no guaruntee.
[07:52] WP: (╯•﹏•╰)
[07:52] WP: So
[07:52] WP: Our best option
[07:52] WP: Is to be extremely careful
[07:52] FS: Caution.
[07:53] FS: Yes.
[07:53] FS: Though risks must be taken to proceed.
[07:53] WP: If I hadn't already heard about all this death, I would be having a panic attack!
[07:54] FS: That would be inconvenient. I would suggest avoiding that.
[07:54] WP: I'll make sure everyone is safe
[07:54] FS: Good luck.
[07:54] WP: I don't want any more deaths
[07:54] WP: Anyway
[07:55] WP: Question number 3
[07:55] WP: (That I just thought of but still)
[07:55] FS: Ok.
[07:55] WP: You said something about magic
[07:55] FS: Yes.
[07:56] WP: And that this could potentially remove the permanence of death?
[07:56] FS: Well, magic is magic.
[07:57] WP: So this magic
[07:57] FS: I don't know for sure that it would, but I suspect it might.
[07:57] WP: How else does that apply to us?
[07:58] WP: Do *we* get magic?
[07:58] FS: Well, you build things out of nothing, which is one aspect, but it is possible flight, healing, and other abilities may be given to us.
[07:58] FS: I do not know how.
[07:58] FS: I do not think it will happen right away.
[07:58] WP: Healing! That's great!
[07:59] WP: How would the magic be distributed?
[07:59] FS: Perhaps... if it does not come at a cost.
[07:59] WP: *distributed
[07:59] WP: A cost?
[07:59] WP: More death? =(
[08:00] FS: That I really don't know. I think flying might be necessary, since i saw cliffs into blackness in some screen captures.
[08:00] FS: And as for cost..
[08:00] FS: I really don't know.
[08:00] WP: Okay...
[08:01] FS: I don't really think there will be any huge cost.
[08:01] WP: I guess that makes sense
[08:01] FS: Yes. This game does not appear to be stacked against us or anything.
[08:02] FS: The one other thing that I feel should be done is the prototyping of the sprites.
[08:02] WP: Oh yeah prototyping
[08:02] FS: Before we go in, that is.
[08:02] WP: That makes sense
[08:02] FS: I feel like it might be important.
[08:03] WP: Yeah I think so too
[08:03] FS: Then we should make sure the prototyping happens.
[08:04] WP: Yeah.
[08:04] WP: I'll tell everyone to make sure they prototype something
[08:04] WP: Before they get in
[08:05] WP: The guide made it seem important
[08:05] FS: Well unless you have any other questions, you should go send the game copies to everyone.
[08:05] WP: I'll tell everyone the prototyping stuff when I give them the game
[08:05] WP: Thanks Anie!
[08:06] FS: You're welcome.

Okay, so that answers a few things. But not all.

You can't wait to get back to Erik on this!

Huh?

>Look at Screen

There seems to be a random person trying to pester you.

>Read the Name

It says... infinityAlternator? Who's that?

They probably initiated a random conversation with you.

You look outside. It doesn't seem like there's going to be an impending apocalypse at any moment. You still have a few minutes to kill.

Hey, maybe you can get this person in the game too! That would mean more people you could save!

>Greet Potential Player of Sburb

[12:22] IA: Hello?
[12:23] WP: Hello?
[12:23] WP: Who's this?
[12:24] IA: I am Amit. Who are you?
[12:25] WP: Mhae Nainno
[12:25] WP: I'm sorry, but I don't seem to know you?
[12:26] IA: I do not know you either. I was just wondering how you happen to not be dead right now. Could you tell me?
[12:26] WP: Dead?!
[12:26] WP: The apocalypse hasn't started yet, has it?
[12:27] IA: It has started at least. More specifically...I am wondering how your universe still exists even though all the Sburb players are gone. I also want to know if we can and are supposed to save the people that are left.
[12:28] WP: You know about Sburb?
[12:28] IA: You know about Sburb?
[12:28] WP: Hahaha =)
[12:28] WP: We said the same thing!
[12:29] WP: This is wonderful!
[12:29] IA: I do not suppose you have a copy of the game?
[12:29] WP: Oh, I've got a copy
[12:29] WP: I'm about to hand it to all of my friends!
[12:29] IA: Well then... I guess that explains a lot..? How many of you are there??
[12:29] WP: Uh... six total
[12:30] WP: Me, Anie, Eric, Emil, Lily, and Bill
[12:30] IA: OK. That does not explain everything then...
[12:30] IA: Which is your Space player?
[12:30] WP: Space player?
[12:30] WP: What do you mean by that?
[12:31] IA: Which one of you seems to know the most about Sburb?
[12:31] WP: Um Anie I think
[12:32] WP: She's the one who found out about the game
[12:32] WP: Second to that would be me I guess
[12:33] WP: I did quite a bit of research on it
[12:34] WP: Though to little avail, aside from a game guide mentioned by Anie, I haven't found much else
[12:34] IA: OK. Could you give me her handle? I will keep talking to you for now. It seems like you will end up being the leader then...since you are putting in the effort.
[12:34] WP: Uh... forgottenSnowflake
[12:34] WP: But
[12:34] WP: Leader??
[12:35] WP: What on earth do you mean by that?
[12:35] WP: Also you didn't answer my earlier question, what's a Space player?
[12:35] WP: Does each player have a title of some sort?
[12:36] IA: Thanks. I will make a note to talk to her later. I assume you will end up leading your game session...therefore: leader. The Space player thing is a little more complicated. When you figure out which one of you it is... have that person talk to me about it.
[12:37] WP: Okay...
[12:37] WP: So uh
[12:37] WP: Each player has their own thing?
[12:37] WP: Like One of us is supposed to have Space?
[12:38] IA: Yeah. Something like that. As it is...I should probably focus on helping you with your research. Like you...I have been researching Sburb in preparation for my own session. I have had many more resources at my disposal...so I want to do my best to pass that on to you.
[12:39] WP: Thanks!
[12:39] WP: You have NO idea how helpful that is!!
[12:39] WP: =)
[12:39] IA: You are very welcome! I am glad to help any human survive this crazy game.
[12:40] IA: You are human right?
[12:40] WP: Um, of course!
[12:40] WP: I am very much human thanks
[12:40] WP: But uh
[12:41] IA: That is good. I forgot to make sure that we were actually from the same universe.

You're starting to get skeptical. You quickly look up on the news to see if there's been any buzz about an apocalypse.

Nothing at all. Hm.

You go back to the pesterlog. This kid just said something about being in the same universe?

Show Pesterlog:
[12:41] WP: I just took a look at the news. And there isn't anything of current or past apocalypses
[12:41] WP: The meteors simply haven't come yet
[12:42] WP: So that leaves one question
[12:42] WP: Who exactly ARE you?
[12:42] WP: Where are you from?
[12:42] WP: I'm not completely sure we reside in the same universe
[12:43] WP: If such a thing exists
[12:44] IA: There have definitely been a few. I personally saw one of them falling toward me. A few of my friends as well. As for where I am from... all I can say for sure is Earth. I usually live in the Atlantic Ocean...but I have lived in the Pacific and Indian oceans for a time.
[12:44] WP: In the ocean?
[12:44] WP: I'm going to assume you mean on an island of some sort
[12:45] IA: On a boat... of course. It is not like I can breath underwater.
[12:45] WP: Haha
[12:45] WP: That would be interesting though
[12:45] WP: Not that I wish for you to drown =)
[12:47] IA: Have you not heard of the giant spherical boat that travels around the Atlantic Ocean?
[12:47] WP: Um
[12:47] WP: Nope?
[12:47] IA: Huh...
[12:47] IA: I just assumed people would hear about it.
[12:48] WP: Then again I live in the middle of rural Maine
[12:48] WP: We don't often have too much interest in such news

Though, you are very sure that even rural Main would have heard about a freaking apocalypse.

Show Pesterlog:
[12:48] IA: I am not sure it that makes a difference... Either way... I will do my best to help you and your friends.
[12:49] WP: Thank you again!
[12:49] WP: So what help can you offer?
[12:51] IA: For now...just information. I have extensive knowledge of the mechanics behind Sburb because my guardian programmed it. Also...I have the entire library on Prospit. Basically...whenever you have a question...I can probably answer it.
[12:52] WP: Oh my god that's wonderful!
[12:53] WP: But first!
[12:53] WP: I really need to send a copy of Sburb to my friends
[12:54] WP: I need to make sure they at least get connected. I would love for them to survive
[12:54] IA: OK. You should do that. I guess they are the few names left on the user list. Can you give me a few of their handles.
[12:54] IA: ?

>Be the other player

Post by cataclysmicEnigma on Sun Feb 28, 2016 1:29 am

A person lays on their floor, staring at the ceiling. Pencils, paper, and folders full of more paper lie with them, but they feel no motivation to do anything about that. Today marks a week since they have had a writers block. On one of the papers, you can barely make out what looks like a name. What does it say?

> Enter name.

Unmotivated Loser

==>

They regard the name, but ignore it as it doesn't lift their writers block.

> Try again.

Mars Aether

==>

Your name is MARS AETHER, and you still can't get motivation.

> Examine room.

You are still staring at the ceiling, which has a remarkable mural of OUTER SPACE on it. Most of the many POSTERS and PAINTINGS around your room focus on outer space, with an exception to a particularly PERIODIC TABLE. You are very CURIOUS and have a book shelf completely stuffed with scientific BOOKS. You get VERY EXCITED when reading them or talking about their subjects. Your shelves are cluttered with your many COLLECTIONS, MEMENTOS, and MEMORIES. You are a bit of a PACK RAT, but still think your room has a certain elegance. You remember about the papers on your floor and sigh.

>Collect papers.

You slowly start collecting the many papers. These particular papers are ideas for planets in the scifi book you are trying to write. Trying is the keyword.

>Put away papers.

You place the papers into one of the many folder on your desk. Your folders are very organized, and you spend time making sure they stay that way.

>Knock over folders.

You don't want to do- Oh, too late. Though you are organized, you are clumsy and tend to lose and forget things. You reorder your folders.

>Check if chums are online.

Your computer takes a while to start up, and you pass the time by reading the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, your current favorite book. You soon forget about checking on your chums even though the application has been open for several minutes.

Your SCISSORtop makes an alarm sound and you wake up, startled. You think the sound is appropriate because it sounds like a pair of scissors snipping, but it sure scares you if you’re napping. Your Unc might decide to chop off all your hair for FASHION and you don’t like that idea at all.

[08:03] WP: Yeah I think so too
FS: Then we should make sure the prototyping happens.

>Ponder your motives.

You are not usually this ENTHUSIASTIC about anything, but you are becoming SOMEWHAT EXCITED about this game. WP seems to be very interested as well, though you think she is probably more WORRIED than anything else. You wonder why you like this game so much. Perhaps it is the prospect of being FREE from your uncle.

>Go back to sleep.

You don’t have anything to do currently, and do not wish to have an EXISTENTIAL CRISIS from thinking to much about your mental state, so you force yourself back into SLEEP so you can skip a few hours.

>Get startled again.

Once again, a chum is pestering you, and, once again, your SCISSORtop has shocked you awake. You contemplate changing the sound but decide against it.

[09:04] MM: any news on the new game/
[09:04] WP: Uh...

[09:05] MM: what went wrong/
[09:05] WP: How good are you at handling not-so-great news?
[09:05] WP: I mean
[09:05] MM: reasonably
[09:06] WP: So um can you promise me whatever happens you will still play the game?
[09:07] WP: 'Cause the news isn't too happy
[09:07] MM: why is the game you were so deeply unsure of so fucking important to you now/
[09:07] WP: Just trust me!
[09:07] WP: You need to get into the game!
[09:07] MM: okay...
[09:08] WP: You promise?
[09:08] MM: sure i'll fucking play
[09:08] WP: (whew)
[09:08] WP: So I talked to Anie
[09:09] WP: And we might just maybe kinda of initiate the apocalyse?
[09:09] WP: And die?
[09:09] WP: Unless we enter the game?
[09:09] MM: the fuck/1
[09:10] MM: and no one thought to send me a message about this beforehand because/
[09:10] WP: To my knowledge, only Anie, Bill, and I know
[09:11] WP: Bill only knows because of me
[09:11] WP: and I only know because of Anie
[09:11] WP: Anie only knows because a mysterious guide
[09:11] WP: I think it was a game FAQ?
[09:13] MM: and why should we play/ shouldn't not playing circumvent the whole looming apocalyse/
[09:13] WP: Now that you say that...
[09:14] WP: It kinda makes sense
[09:14] WP: However
[09:14] WP: I think the apocalypse will happen regardless of what we do
[09:15] WP: Some type of paradox thing
[09:36] WP: Maybe...
[09:37] WP: Someone needs to be optimistic around here
[09:37] WP: But
[09:37] MM: optimism is for the very young and the very foolish.
[09:38] WP: Well I guess I'll stay foolish
[09:38] MM: suit yourself

So that was a long and arduous conversation, but at least you not longer want to gouge your fucking eyes out with a rusty knife. Speaking of knives, you put your computer away and wander out to retrieve the knife you left embedded in the target downstairs. Before you do, however, you collect your scythe from beside the door and put in in you SCYTHEKIND SPECIBUS. Your KNIFEKIND SPECIBUS is mostly a backup, but can come in really fucking handy in tight spaces. Hallways are a bitch with a scythe.

You are suddenly torn from your book as your computer makes a dinging noise. You completely forgot you wanted to pester your chums.

[12:08] WP: Um so
[12:08] WP: Have you heard of a game called Sburb?
[12:09] CE: im not very into games.
[12:09] CE: not video games at least.
[12:09] WP: Alright so uh
[12:09] WP: Where to start...
[12:09] WP: Sburb is this game
[12:09] WP: That might
[12:10] WP: Accidentally
[12:10] WP: Destroy the world?
[12:10] CE: thats completely illogical.
[12:10] WP: Ha ha funny right
[12:10] WP: Well um

[12:10] WP: There's one way to survive it
[12:11] CE: wait, wait hold on a second.
[12:11] CE: where did you find this game? do you have solid evidence to back up your claims?

[12:11] CE: mostly?

[12:12] WP: Here
[12:12] CE: your evidence is a internet forum.
[12:12] WP: Well that and, you won't believe it but, even ANIE believes it
[12:12] WP: Even BILL

[12:13] WP: It is but I have more proof!
[12:13] CE: alright
[12:13] WP: It's Space Guy
[12:13] CE: ...
[12:13] WP: Er, his name is Amit
[12:13] WP: But for all intents and purposes he's basically Space Guy
[12:14] CE: alright then. does he have solid evidence?
[12:14] WP: Talk to him. He's actually entered the game in a separate session, in something of a parallel universe
[12:14] WP: I kid you not!
[12:15] CE: ... ok then
[12:15] CE: then lets assume for a second what you are saying is true
[12:15] WP: Anyway, regardless of whether you believe it or not, it's better safe than sorry right?
[12:16] CE: yes. so how do you not die?
[12:16] WP: First, you connect to a server player
[12:16] WP: That server player is connected to another server player, and another one, and another, until you're connected too
[12:17] CE: interesting
[12:18] WP: You then enter the game, and your server player sets up a few items - Cruxite Dowel, Totem Lathe, Alchemizer, etc.
[12:18] WP: You have to grab a thing of cruxite
[12:18] WP: Get the captcha code for a captchalog card
[12:19] WP: Input that and the cruxite dowel into the totem lathe
[12:19] WP: place the totem lathe in the alchemizer, which makes your entry object appear
[12:20] WP: Break that object
[12:20] WP: And enter the medium
[12:20] WP: Before you are destroyed by meteors
[12:20] CE: if anything, this is making me more skeptical
[12:20] CE: but alright
[12:20] CE: wait
[12:20] CE: meteors?
[12:20] WP: Yeah
[12:21] WP: Apparently launching the game causes a slew of meteors
[12:21] WP: Which is what ends the world
[12:21] WP: In a sort of paradoxic affect
[12:21] CE: this game can somehow redirect giant rocks in space that already have a specified orbital path due to gravitation
[12:21] WP: Yes
[12:22] CE: ... alright...
[12:22] WP: It's a stretch but you gotta believe me
[12:22] WP: I want to save as many people as possible
[12:22] WP: So even if you think I'm lying
[12:22] WP: Please join us in playing the game

[12:24] CE: cant we just not play the game and have nothing happen
[12:25] WP: The meteors will happen anyway, caused by an alternate event
[12:25] WP: Like I said, a paradox
[12:25] WP: It just matters who starts the meteors
[12:25] CE: well then
[12:26] CE: i think i have to go and let this sink in
[12:26] WP: Oh before you leave

[12:27] WP: And remember, once you enter there's this thing called a sprite that you have to prototype
[12:27] WP: Prototype it with anything
[12:27] CE: what does this 'sprite' do?
[12:28] WP: You just need to toss something in the sprite for it to be prototyped
[12:28] WP: I'm not sure what it does
[12:28] WP: But it's super important in some way that I haven't figured yet
[12:28] CE: alright then. ill be careful what i chuck at it then.

That was... interesting to say the least. You are not sure what the big deal about this game is when it obviously looks like a hoax. You decide the most logical thing to would be to pester Bill, Anie, and 'space guy' to see if they have any further proof. You have a feeling you forgot to ask Mhae something, but you can always pester her again later.

[06:30] CE: she told me you believed it is true
[06:30] FV: I don't have reason to believe it to be not true.
[06:31] CE: but do you have a reason to believe it is true?
[06:31] FV: I feel like in cases such as this, it is better to assume that it is true.
[06:32] FV: I have no reason to believe it's false and even if it does end up be false, I'd much rather be wrong in this than die.
[06:32] CE: so we should believe every person that tells us the end of the world is coming the next day.
[06:32] FV: Let me restate what I said: since we have the means to avoid our deaths that we're likely going to do anyway, it doesn't really matter how true it is.
[06:33] FV: At least, that is the way that I see it.
[06:33] CE: i see your logic.
[06:33] FV: Would you like to know more about the game?

[07:18] CE: its seems sort of odd that we can just prototype them with anything right
[07:18] FS: Not particularly.
[07:18] CE: so it really makes no difference what we use
[07:18] FS: It does not.
[07:19] CE: why do we prototype them then
[07:19] FS: Though I would suggest at least one sentient of formerly sentient object.
[07:19] FS: Without prototyping they are useless
[07:20] CE: huh, so they might take something else's sentience and amplify it?
[07:20] FS: And the monsters we have to fight may be more difficult to kill without any sor of being involved, but that s merely a hypothesis.

You start feeling the beginnings of dread in your stomach. Talking to Anie was by far the most informative and scariest of the chats. Now it's time to talk to 'space guy'.

> Remember what you forgot.

You bang your head against the computer as you remember that you didn't ask Mhae for Space Guy's chumhandle. Eos squawks at you for doing so.

>Regard bird.

You look over at Eos, who stops squawking and pretends she doesn't see you looking. She really is a magnificent white bird, but can act silly at times.

>Take Anie's advice.

You decide to start preparing for the game and practice your combat skills. You are about to exit your room when your computer lets out another ding. It seems that someone is trying to pester you.

[07:32] CE: yes i have been told about you
[07:33] IA: That is good. What do you know about the game Sburb?
[07:34] CE: there is little evidence backing its reality, it will cause the apocalypse, sprites are important but their prototyping doesnt really matter, and i have to connect to another player most probably
[07:34] CE: and there are monsters
[07:35] IA: Um...
[07:35] IA: I guess that is mostly accurate.
[07:36] CE: that is what i am getting
[07:36] IA: For the record... it is real. I am playing the game right now.
[07:36] CE: ...
[07:36] IA: I would suggest thinking through what you prototype for your sprite. It can be quite useful if you pick the right thing.
[07:37] CE: that would make most sense
[07:37] IA: You definitely have to connect to exactly two other players. You will be the server player for a player (your client) and a client player to another player (your server).
[07:38] IA: I would suggest thinking through the connection order for that too... but I do not think you have time for that anymore.
[07:38] IA: Did you get a copy of the game yet?
[07:38] CE: yes i have
[07:38] IA: That is good.
[07:39] CE: should i start it?
[07:40] CE: start it soon atleast
[07:40] CE: not yet
[07:40] IA: Exactly. I can explain to you when to do that... but I think I should leave that to your leader. I have two jobs to do in this conversation: convincing you to play and getting to know you.
[07:41] IA: Are you convinced?
[07:41] CE: unless something happens, im most probably going to play
[07:41] CE: with a 98% certianty
[07:42] IA: What kinds of things would happen that would cause you not to play? Specifically...is the meteor apocalypse one of those things?
[07:43] CE: if that happens i will be completely convinced that what everyone says the game does is real, have a slight existential crisis, and play regardless because the game is the only way to not die
[07:44] IA: That is good. In that case... all I have to do is get to know you. So far I have heard that you are a rather straightforward person who lives on their own and does not interact often with others. Is that correct?
[07:45] CE: accurate
[07:46] IA: Tell me about yourself. What information would be relavent to someone who is trying to help you? Also...what interests do you have?
[07:47] IA: (That is important for the games mechanics.)
[07:48] CE: i see
[07:49] CE: relevant information would be anything that me and others beat this game without dying. more about how the game works would be nice and its end goal.
[07:50] CE: as for interests, i suppose i really like outer space, science and tech related topics, building small robots, programming, and writing/creating art, though i have no idea how that is useful for the game
[07:51] IA: I can give that to you... but I meant what relavent information about yourself can you give me. For the most part... I will be giving you information through your leader. I would rather not end up leading your session since I already have created problems in my own by acting to much like a leader while giving out information.
[07:51] IA: Also... what would you say is the most important thing to you?
[07:52] CE: thing? physical thing or goal type thing?
[07:52] IA: Either.
[07:52] CE: ah
[07:53] CE: leaving earth
[07:53] CE: i wont be able to stand being stuck here my whole life
[07:53] IA: What is more important: the begining or the end?
[07:54] CE: of time? of the game? or in general?
[07:54] CE: thats a really broad question
[07:55] IA: In general. I am asking some question that are similar to those that the game will ask itself about you when deciding how to design your quest and which powers to give you.
[07:55] CE: i see
[07:56] IA: They are rather strange questions.
[07:56] CE: i suppose the end is, as the beginning is done with while the end is still coming
[07:57] IA: I see. How do you feel about rules?
[07:59] CE: if it benefits the majority, they can be bent and broken. rules are supposed to benefit the majority anyways, so if they do not do that they have to be rewritten
[07:59] IA: OK. What is the world composed of?
[08:00] CE: elements? atoms and quarks in different arrangements?
[08:01] IA: How important are people? In what ways are they more or less important that other things?
[08:04] CE: their sentience and ability to think and feel make people important to protect, but as a whole people are just as important as everything else in our universe. they play a role in it after all, even if its small
[08:05] IA: OK.
[08:05] IA: How about ideals? What are yours?
[08:07] CE: find out as much as i can about as much as i can as possible
[08:08] IA: OK. That is all I have to ask for now. I do not actually have all of the questions... but I think I learned a lot from this discussion.
[08:08] CE: i suppose that is good
[08:09] IA: I cannot really say what your Aspect is...but I can say for sure it is not space.
[08:09] CE: aspect?
[08:10] IA: Your aspect determines what your powers influence. For example: Space and Time are both Aspects. So are: Doom...Life...Heart...Mind...Light...Void...Blood...Breath...
[08:10] IA: Rage...
[08:10] IA: Hope...
[08:10] IA: I think that is all of them.
[08:11] IA: Your Class determines what your powers do. I am a Seer. That means that my powers primarily give me knowledge that I can use to help out my friends.
[08:11] CE: that sounds very useful
[08:12] CE: that sounds like my ideals
[08:13] IA: I think it is possible that you are also a Seer... although you could be a number of other things. Pages are known for having underdeveloped powers early on...so pretty much anyone could be one and I would not know. It is also possible that you are a Mage. Mages are also associated with knowledge...but they are more likely to use it themselves.
[08:13] IA: How good are you at fighting?
[08:13] CE: id rather not if thats an answer
[08:14] CE: i can do it in defense i suppose

I have a lot of drawings of the players in my session... so I started asking the question to everyone. It seems like physical descriptions are pretty common even when no drawings are available... so they are still helpful for people from other sessions.

[08:25] CE: yeah, her name is Eos
[08:25] IA: Cool! Is she your guardian?

[08:27] CE: she starts squawking if i do something she thinks is dangerous
[08:28] CE: its a bit weird
[08:28] IA: I see. Well... I need to go now. I have actually been fighting imps this whole time and I am running out of stamina and health. You are even more confused than you started with, and think that this is one of the longest conversations you have had with another. You have never been really good at talking with others, but even taking that into account this seems pretty long. You are a bit saddened that Space is not your aspect, but decide if aspects were chosen that simply the game wouldn't be nearly as complex as it is starting to seem.

>Prepare for the end of the world.

You decide it would be a lot more useful to start reading on how the game works and practice your combat skills afterwards. You open the game FAQ sent to you, taking particular care to avoid the game files, and start reading.
